Today, I held a container while a patient tried to throw up in it. She missed. FML
sucks for you!!
SUCK IT UP, CUPCAKE!
sucks for you!!
You say 'patient', so you're, what, a doctor/nurse/porter? You should be used to this kind of shit. It's what you get paid for.
He's clearly new. Probably first day/week.
How did this even make it through? Borrrinnnng. Not an FML.
Yeah.. it's like "I spilled some oil on my hands while working at Jiffy Lube, FML" Comes with the job, if you don't like it, get out while you still can
not a FML
Second that, I guess some people moderating have really low standards.
Been there, done that, that's why extra scrubs are good
Hm... Pretty sure that if you go into that kind of field you should expect things like that to happen. This sounds more like; "Today, I did my job. FML"
This.
i'm pretty sure they won't deduct the gloves from your paycheck.
Why do I get the feeling the patient missed because you were holding the bucket like a pussy afraid of some barf?
I just had an image of Homer taking Bart to the gay steel mill. Steel Mill Worker #1: [lispy] Stand still, there's a spark in you hair! Steel Mill Worker #2: [flailing about] Get it, get it!
You shouldn't have said, "Miss! Miss! Miss!" In her physical state, how was she to know that you were trying to get her attention instead of instructing her not to hit the target?
ur a docor u should be trained to be ready for that. pussy
Hmmm sounds like that's a part of your job. So i guess it would be a FML, cause now you need to find another job since a little puke makes you think your life is fucked. Now I would not be ok with being puked on, so I would never work in a place where it may happen on a daily basis.
By saying patient I assume you're a doctor of some sort? Sorry but if you can't handle this it's obviously not the job for you. People have to clean up puke every day when their child/parent/friend gets sick, and as a doctor, this is going to happen A LOT more to you.
If it's a patient, this is your job, something you accepted and get paid to do. Stop your bitching.
What #3 said. Welcome to your job! Get fucking used to it. YDI.
duuur that's why they hold their own pee bottle, emesis basin/bag YDI Noob while we are on the subject of schooling your dumbass •if you are escorting a psych pt make them lead you don't let them follow •all baker acts must be stripped of all clothing and possesions •if a patient leaves with an IV in call the police now stop watchin Mercy and Trauma for tips and find a new career you're hopeless Lemon out!
How the fuck is this an FML? I really dont think having to wash your hands inconveniences your life... Grow the fuck up you pussy. You picked your job, and you probably make a hell of a lot more money than alot of people, stop whining and get back to work, dumbass.
You got a job. You got a pretty secure job. You got a pretty good paying job. Your job has good medical benifits. You got a job where you can live just about anywhere you want. You got a job that, with some seniority, you can work any shift you want. Your secure, good paying, good benifits and good options job has a down side. Once in a while. Boo... Fuckin... hoooo. YDI... every time you cash your check.
You guys are idiots. It's not 'your job' to get puked on. Your job in this case would be to help people. Being to stupid to realize the difference must be why you guys are here posting that garbage in the first place. Now Hiring: Position to be puked on? Morons..
Precisely. Sure, it may come along with the territory of working in the health care field, but getting vomited on sucks, regardless. I'm in school for nursing, and nowhere in my classes has anyone mentioned "Oh, and don't have ill feelings when people throw up on you. It's your job to be thrown up on." How you handle the situation is important, but you still have "the right" to be irritated that it happened, as long as you handle the situation with professionalism.
Notso much an FML as a day to day occurence for anyone who works in healthcare.
Details, boy! Details!
ok wats your point
he sounds awesome to me.
I'm a nurse and while it is a job hazard that I might get barfed on (or bled on, or peed on, or pooped on, or spit at, or punched) I don't consider it "my job" to be someone's personal emesis basin. That being said, I wouldn't consider this an FML. It's like being a plumber and complaining about water splashing you. No one "deserves" to be puked on just because they work in the medical profession, like so many of you have asserted. We went through a pretty grueling education and training in order to be in the position to save your life. So, (kukopia, especially) get off your high horse and try to do our job for a day. I guarantee you won't say "YDI" after you see what we do.
Amen! They need to try to walk a mile in our shoes first lol
Gold Medal for you!!!! You forgot slapped and pinched. That happened to me before while I was putting in an IV in my poor senile grandma patient. The stories go on and on... I completely agree, this is definitely not an FML. It sounds like the patient missed by mistake. Although I don't enjoy having bodily fluids on me, I really don't hold them accountable for it. They are sick. Sick people do things they wouldn't normally do. We don't deserve it but it happens :/
you should have moved.... sucks for yu!!!!
wow like every mom in the world has had this happen to them from children. stop complaining you dumb shithead.
I could've sworn that you just used the word "patient"? Oh, wait, I did. You took the job, so deal with it. This isn't an FML.
